Villa Stirzenhofstrasse 21 (2015)

The building at Stirzenhofstraße 21 is a villa in Bad Godesberg , a district of Bonn , which was built in 1926. It is located in the Plittersdorf district on the corner of Stirzenhofstrasse and Simrockallee.

history

The villa was built for the client E. Wrede, a councilor , according to plans by the Godesberg architect Karl Schwarz . In 1929 a garage was added to the rear and in 1938 another one next to the house.

After Bonn had become the seat of government of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949 , the property served as the office of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in 1952/53 . The Republic of Turkey then set up the residence of its ambassador in the villa , which was relocated to the Villa Rolandshöhe near Rolandseck in 1956 (→ Embassy of the Republic of Turkey (Bonn) ). The Lebanese Republic , which rented it as the residence of its ambassador , became the new occupant of the building . After the owner wanted to sell the house, the Lebanese residence was relocated within Bonn in 1973. The buyer of the property was the Republic of Senegal , which also established the residence of its ambassador there in 1974. The villa was furnished with brass sculptures typical of the country , reverse glass paintings and pictures by a Senegalese painter living in Germany.

As a result of the relocation of the seat of government to Berlin (1999), the Senegalese embassy moved there in 2004. The villa is now used as a private residence.

architecture

The villa can be stylistically the Expressionism assign. The shapes typical of the style include an ornament interspersed with points and spikes , conical downward angular columns and balusters, and triangular window closures. The exterior color of the house has not been preserved in its original state.
