The Stock & Scherenberger Erbstollen is an old Erbstollen in Sprockhövel , which has been open to the public as a visitor mine since 2018.

history

The tunnel was built in 1746 to drain the Stock & Scherenberg colliery and owned the Erbstollenrechtlichkeit .

The Erbstollen is named after the Stock and Scherenberg trades and their mine of the same name. The purpose of the tunnel was to loosen the coal banks of the union . However, it also cut other coal banks during its advance . By a cross-cut which also was mine Ver. Concordia drains. The cross-cutting drive of the Stock & Scherenberger Erbstollen was done by miners from Saxony .

The shafts of the Erbstollen were created as close as possible to the valley floor of the Pleßbach . The tunnel reached a total length of about three kilometers.

Although the connected pits partly through the dirt bankers Erbstollen solved were and are dehydrated until today, also some flowing water from the crispness of Erbstollens. During the construction of the A43 motorway , the aforementioned crosscut of the tunnel was cut.

From 2013 the mouth hole of the tunnel was cleared up and restored by the "Förderverein Bergbauhistorischer Stätten Ruhrrevier eV". Since 2018 the tunnel has been renovated by Bergbauaktiv Ruhr eV in cooperation with the city of Sprockhövel and its lower monument authority.

On November 16, 2018, the gallery was designated a visitor mine.
