The Stollenbacher Hütte is one at 1092  m above sea level. NN located inn and Herderhütte (alpine hut) in the spring basin of the Stollenbach flowing to the Zastlerbach in the municipality of Oberried in the Black Forest .

history

For centuries cattle have been kept by a pasture community over the summer "on the Stollenbach". Since the ground at around 1100 meters is not suitable for intensive agricultural use, it is mainly young cattle. The pasture cooperative provides a so-called herder who runs the Herderhütte. In the past he was assisted by a shepherd who was responsible for the cattle. Today the Herder takes over the management of the Stollenbacher Hut and the care of the animals. Thanks to well-developed roads and its own power connection, the Stollenbacher Hut can now be inhabited by Herder and his family all year round.

The name Stollenbach could be a reference to medieval mining in the Black Forest . Other field names in the area also indicate possible mining: Stollenmatte , Stollenberg , Silbereck or Tote Mann . However, there is no clear evidence of mining in this area. Another interpretation relates to the Middle High German word stolle for an outstanding part, a point or a point; in this case the name would describe the terrain.

From the 13th century there are some mentions of silver and iron mines in the Oberrieder valley. It is not clear whether mining took place on the Stollenbach.

Since the early 14th century, Zastler (initially under the name Münswendi (1311), Münschwendi (1329), Mysswende or Miswend (1525)), to which the Stollenbach belongs, has changed hands several times, mostly from noble families from the area. Under the date November 15, 1660, the Stollenbach and the high pasture there are mentioned in a document as the property of the street farmers Gassenschmidt. This name has been passed down again and again for the following centuries in documents relating to the Stollenbach. Mostly there are legal disputes concerning the status of the pasture as communal pasture and the number of animals permitted there. The uncertainty about the right of ownership to the community forest could only be finally eliminated by a settlement of the community citizens of September 20, 1857, in which the 1431 acre forest was undisputedly declared a community forest.

Around the middle of the 19th century, the house and inn, Der Stollenbacher Hof, belonged to the alley farm . The Gassenbauer was committed to the community shepherds to entertain. He was entitled to free use of the house in the Stollenbach. In return, he had to herd and care for the grazing cattle from the authorized farms in Zastler during the entire grazing period free of charge. Since then there has been a frequent change of herder and host family on the farm. In 1927 the alley farm was sold as the last private farm in Zastler to the Domain Office (State Treasury of Baden ) for 116,000 marks . This means that the Stollenbach has also passed to the state. In 1959, the then independent municipality of Zastler bought the Stollenbacher Hof, which subsequently rebuilt it for 135,000 DM.

Winter at the Stollenbacher Hut

From 1967 the Stollenbach was expanded into a small winter sports area with three lifts , a cross-country ski run , parking lots and an asphalt access road. Projects to build a cable car and a sports hotel failed due to the financial outlay.

The reopening of the Stollenbacher Hof took place on May 1st, 2008 after conversion and renovation measures.

Since October 2006, is near the tunnel Bacherhütte the Ruheberg  the municipality Oberried, a mountain-natural cemetery for urn burials under black forest trees.

tourism

The Stollenbach is the starting point for numerous hikes in the Feldberg area and is particularly suitable as access to the Alpine Path , one of the highest hiking trails in the Black Forest. It leads through the alpine terrain of the northern slopes of Feldberg and Stübenwasen into the St. Wilhelmer Valley and is a specialty in the Black Forest due to its exposed location and its alpine character.
