Stoop (unit)

The stoop , also called stoove or little room , was a measure of volume in the Netherlands and Sweden . The amount varied from region to region. Stübchen as the first name was a different volume measure.

  • Antwerp 1 stoop = 160 Parisian cubic inches = 3 1/6 liters = 3.17 liters
  • Rotterdam 1 stoop = 129 Paris cubic inches = 2 5/9 liters = 2.4 liters ( wine , brandy )
  • Rotterdam 1 stoop = 5 pounds (light) = 2343 ¾ grams ( oil )
    • 340 stoop = 1 ton (oil)
