Storm Willis Norton (* 16th May 1994 in Toledo , Ohio ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the tackle . He is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Chargers from the National Football League (NFL).

Career

Storm Norton attended from 2012 to 2016, the University of Toledo , where he worked for the sports team, the Toledo Rockets , college football played. After suspending the first season as a red shirt , he saw seven games on the field in 2013 as a reserve player. In 2014 he played in all thirteen games, the last three of which as a starter. In 2015 he was elected First-Team All-MAC for his good performance during the season, and for his performance in the Rockets bowl game, he was also elected to the Associated Press All-Bowl Team . Also in 2016 he became the first-team All-MAC and was selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game .

After Norton was not selected in the 2017 NFL Draft , the Detroit Lions signed him as a free agent. On September 2, 2017, they released him as part of the final squad downsizing to 53 players. The next day, however, they signed him to their practice squad . On September 9, 2017, they appointed him to the active main squad, but released him three days later. On September 13, 2017, the Lions recruited Norton to their Practice Squad. He was released from him on September 25, 2017. On October 26th, 2017, the Lions recruited Norton to their Practice Squad. He was released five days later.

On November 6, 2017, the Arizona Cardinals signed Norton to their Practice Squad. The Cardinals released him on November 30, 2017.

On December 12, 2017, the Minnesota Vikings signed him to their Practice Squad. On January 16, 2018, the Vikings released Norton. On January 29, 2018, the Vikings signed him again. As part of the final squad reduction to 53 players before the start of the regular season , he was initially dismissed, but got a place in the practice squad again, as in the previous season. On October 27, 2018, he was promoted to the active squad. Norton was released on November 3, 2018. On November 6, 2018, he was re-engaged by the Vikings for the Practice Squad. He was dismissed as part of the final squad downsizing before the start of the 2019 regular season.

In the first draft of the re-established XFL , Norton was selected as the overall first of the second phase (offensive linemen) by the Los Angeles Wildcats . Pro Football Focus rated Norton the highest of all offensive linemen in the XFL. After the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the Los Angeles Chargers signed Norton for two years.

style

Norton has a very great arm length and can take a great first step. This allows him to get a wide angle, which is useful for the pass block. Due to his considerable height of over two meters, he can also set deep blocks against players from the second line of defense. However, he is not that good at running blocks, tends to play with a high center of gravity and has comparatively little strength in his legs. He is relatively slow to move backwards, but quick to move sideways. Norton played two-point stance (no hand on the floor) in Toledo.
