The Craiova tram is the tram system in the Romanian city ​​of Craiova . Craiova is in the south of Romania and has a population of around 300,000.

The Craiova tram is one of the newer tram networks in Romania and has been in operation since September 24, 1987. The only route is 18 kilometers long and standard gauge . It connects the industrial areas east of the city via the city center with the north-western industrial areas. Craiova train station is not affected. There are three lines:

On the shortest line, line 100, the trains run at frequent intervals, while the longest line, line 102, only runs every 60 minutes during the day. Line 101 is an amplifier line that only runs on weekdays. The last section of line 102 crosses the city limits and leads to Ișalnița.

From the beginning, 49 Timiș 2 trams operated in Craiova . In 1998 ten used articulated railcars of the type Tatra KT4D came from the Berlin tram to Craiova. In 2001 Craiova received trains consisting of multiple units and sidecars of the type Tatra T4D from the Leipzig tram . Trains of the same type from Dresden followed in 2007 . Craiova also received M5 + m5 trains from the Munich tram and Simmering-Graz-Pauker E1 articulated multiple units , which were most recently used on the Rotterdam tram . The Timiș 2 wagons have not been in use since 2007.

Planning

In 2012, a European project from the City of Craiova was approved for the complete rehabilitation of the tram tracks on the Peco Severinului - Pasaj Electro - MAT SA line. This work will start in spring 2013.
