The Strand Moraines ( English for the shore moraines ) are primeval lateral moraines of the Koettlitz Glacier on the Scott coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . They are located on the outer edge of the Bowers-Piedmont Glacier .
Participants in the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904), led by British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott, discovered them. Scott changed the original name "The Eskers" to the name we use today based on the appearance.
