action

The film begins in the distant past: Gouki / Akuma was an upright fighter and student, but he is one of those who rule the dark Hadou-Ken, which spoils his soul and makes him a radical murderer with no sense of morality. The dark hadou is the "evil" variant of the hadou, which can be used as a fighting technique, for example in the form of an energy ball. However, the dark hadou can also unleash incredible combat powers and kill people without any problems. One of his first victims is his old master who trained him and his brother Gouken. He then leaves him and his pregnant girlfriend, the old master's daughter, behind and lives in seclusion, only in union with the power of the dark Hadou.

Now the young fighter Ryu, a student of Akuma's brother Gouken, seeks revenge for his master, whom Akuma also murdered one day. At that time Ryu was still too young and weak, but now he thinks the time has come. Arriving at the location of Gouken's school, he meets an ancient man, an old master of the martial arts, who challenges him to a fight and quickly defeats him with simple tricks. Ryu trains with him and his granddaughter for a while and waits for Akuma's arrival.

Finally, it turns out that Ryu is the son of Akuma and the daughter of his master. When she died in childbirth, Gouken brought the baby (ryu) to that old master. When Ryu became too lonely there at a young age, he went to Gouken's school until Gouken was killed. The old master, to whom he is now returning, had once sworn to Gouken that he would not be devoured by the dark hadou like his father Akuma. Ryu, however, knows nothing of any of these connections.

When Akuma appears one day, the big showdown begins. Ken Masters, a friend and rival of Ryu, shows up to help him but is stopped by the old master. During the fight between Akuma and Ryu it turns out that Ryu hardly has any chance to compete against the dark Hadou. He also feels this dark gift awakening in himself and uses it uncontrollably, but since ghosts appear through the strong activity of the dark Hadou and he sees his mother's face, his mind returns from the rage of the dark Hadou. He manages to bundle all his strength into a huge "good" Hadou and direct it to Akuma. When Ryu is passed out and Akuma is severely weak, he leaves Ryu. The unnaturally old master now sees his oath as fulfilled and dies.
