Stuart Edward Mann

Stuart Edward Mann (born June 11, 1905 in Nottingham , † August 5, 1986 ) was a British linguist. He dealt in particular with Albanian , Czech and Armenian language history.

Life

Mann received his PhD in Bristol in 1927 . From 1929 to 1931 he lived in Tirana and then taught English at Masaryk University in Brno . From 1947 until his retirement in 1972 he read Czech and Albanian literature at the University of London's School of Slavonic and East European Studies . Most recently he was the author of an extensive comparative Indo-European dictionary.
