Sir Stuart Peach GBE KCB ADC DL (born 1956 in West Midlands ) is a British Air Chief Marshal . He has been Chairman of the NATO Military Committee since June 29, 2018 and was Chief of the Defense Staff of the British Armed Forces from 2016 to 2018 .

Life

Stuart Peach was born in the West Midlands in 1956. After graduating from Aldridge Grammar School , he joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1977 . He is married and has two children.

Military career

During his service, Peach was often stationed abroad (including from 1994 to 1996 as the commander of an RAF unit in Brüggen ).

From 2013 to 2016 he was Deputy Chairman of the Defense Staff. He was then appointed Chief of the Defense Staff and succeeded Nicholas Houghton on July 14 . In September 2017 he was elected 32nd Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. The transfer of command took place on June 29, 2018. General Nick Carter took over the post of Chief of the Defense Staff .

Personal nobility

On December 31, 2008 he was accepted as a Knight Commander in the Bath Order (KCB) and thereby ennobled . Since then he has had the suffix "Sir". On December 31, 2015, he was elevated to the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE).
