Christian Weiherer

Christian Weiherer (* 1971 in Regensburg ) is a German church musician ; since 2016 he has been the cathedral music director at the St. Eberhard cathedral in Stuttgart .

Life

Christian Weiherer studied Catholic church music and organ in Regensburg and Detmold a . a. with Norbert Düchtel and Gerhard Weinberger . He studied piano with Wolfgang Watzinger and Bob Verstegh . He also completed song, chamber music and Kapellmeister classes.

From 1998 he was deanery church musician at St. Josef in Memmingen, where he directed a series of concerts that included chamber music, organ concerts and oratorio performances. He was the artistic director of the Memmingen master concerts. As assistant to Gerhard Weinberger at the Musikhochschule in Augsburg he was a lecturer for liturgical organ playing and improvisation from 2001 to 2007. In September 2016 Christian Weiherer took over the office of cathedral music director at the St. Eberhard cathedral in Stuttgart and is the successor to long-time cathedral music director Martin Dücker. At St. Eberhard he heads the girls' choir , the Schola Gregoriana and the cathedral choir.
