Student Consulting
Junior Enterprise are from students supported consultancies to universities or university environment. In most cases they are made up of students studying economics , although in recent years there has been an increasing interdisciplinary approach . In Germany, most student management consultancies have chosen the association as their legal form , whereby the project work is usually carried out by different GbRs . Individual student management consultancies are also organized as limited liability companies, such as the entrepreneurial company or as a limited liability company .

The student management consultancies were founded in general to give the students of the respective university the opportunity to gain practical experience while studying, to convey entrepreneurial thinking and action and to learn social skills. From the point of view of companies, it is above all the relatively low price compared to large consultancies and the possibility of establishing contact with motivated students that make student management consultancies interesting.
In the university environment student management consultations occur frequently also as an organizer of business contact fairs , case studies , lectures and "business Nights". In addition, some student consultancies have an internal and / or external knowledge and quality management system, some of which are certified according to ISO 9001: 2008 or ISO 9001: 2015, which is used to further educate members and organize student management consultancy. Internal and external training courses and workshops on current industrial topics such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Industry 4.0 round off this training concept.
The idea of student management consulting comes from France , where the first such organization was founded in 1967 by the French ESSEC . The great potential of this idea was later recognized in Germany, where the first German student management consultancy was founded at the Technical University of Darmstadt in February 1988 with Junior Comtec Darmstadt eV. This later was also involved in the establishment of the Federal Association of German Student Management Consultants, with the three founding members JMS e. V., Worms, INSTEAD e. V., Passau, and Consultatio GbR, Augsburg. Today she is part of the free JE7 network. In addition to Junior Comtec Darmstadt eV, six other student management consultancies from Germany are part of this network.
In February 2011 there were a total of 80 registered associations at German universities that were dedicated to student management consulting.
The network of student management consultancies extends all over the world. Since 1992, the umbrella association JEEurope - European Confederation of Junior Enterprises, has coordinated the cooperation between European student management consultancies. The European network comprises around 30,000 students.
Umbrella associations in German-speaking countries
In Germany there are currently two umbrella associations of student management consultancies, in Austria there is one umbrella association.
The Federal Association of German Student Management Consultants , based in Bonn , was founded in 1992 and has 32 member initiatives with around 2300 students. These 32 initiatives are represented in 11 of the 16 federal states.
The Junior Consultant Network (JCNetwork) eV, founded in 2002 and based in Karlsruhe, has 32 student management consultancies from Germany with a total of approx. 2,600 student members.
The Austrian Confederation of Junior Enterprises (CAJE) was added to the JADE network in 1994 and renamed JADE Austria in 2005 . The umbrella organization is based in Vienna . It includes five Austrian junior enterprises.
