The Stuibensee is a small Karsee located above the tree line in the Wetterstein Mountains in the municipality of Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Garmisch district . The lake is located at the exit of the Grieskar below the Hohe Gaif and between the Alpspitze in the west and the Stuibenkopf in the east. It has no above-ground inflows and outflows. The area around the lake, on the north side of which a hiking trail leads to the Bernadeinkopf and on to the Alpspitze, consists of Wetterstein limestone and is karstified . Near the lake there are moraine walls of a former local glacier (Grieskargletscher) from the early Holocene .

The lake is located in the alpine pasture area; occasionally you can see the herd of cows bathing.
