The Sturgeon River is a right tributary of the English River in the far west of the Canadian province of Ontario .
The Sturgeon River forms the drain of Sydney Lake . It leaves this on its southern bank and flows south through the Canadian Shield . It flows through a number of lakes including Right Lake , Roger Lake , Fletcher Lake , Cabin Lake, and Salvesen Lake . The Sturgeon River overcomes several rapids between the lakes. Finally, the Sturgeon River flows into Umfreville Lake , through which the English River flows. The Confusion River and Campfire River are major tributaries of the Sturgeon River. The river has a length of about 60 km. At the runoff from the Salvesen Lake, the mean runoff is 10 m³ / s. The catchment area at the level covers 1530 km².
