Styla (Ukrainian Стила ; Russian Стыла / Styla ) is a village in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine with about 2100 inhabitants.

View of the place

The village is on the edge of the Donets Basin on the river Mokra Volnovakha about the Rajonshauptstadt (Мокра Волноваха), 15 kilometers southwest Starobesheve and 30 kilometers south of Oblastzentrum Donetsk area. From an administrative point of view, it forms the district council of the same name, which also includes the village of Petrivske (Петрівське).

The village was founded in 1780 by Greek settlers from the Crimea , between 1923 and 1925 the place was the seat of the Styla Raion , since summer 2014 the settlement has been in the hands of pro-Russian separatists from the Donetsk People's Republic as a result of the war in Ukraine .
