Stylonuridae is a family of the suborder Stylonurina from the order of the sea scorpions (Eurypterida).
features
In the species from the Stylonuridae family, the posterior margin of the metastoma was flattened or blunt. The prosomal limbs II to IV were spiny ( Ctenopterus type), however, V and VI had no spines ( pageA type). The opisthosoma was undifferentiated.
Locations
Representatives of the Stylonuridae family have been found in North America ( New York State ) and Europe ( England and Scotland ).
Systematics
The family was established in 1924 by Karl Diener . According to Lamsdell, Braddy & Tetlie 2010, it includes the following genera:
- Subfamily Laurieipterinae
- Pagea
- Stylonurus
More recent synonyms of the family Stylonuridae are Laurieipteridae Kjellesvig-Waering, 1966 and Pageidae Kjellesvig-Waering, 1966.
