Sulcorebutia krugerae is a species of plant in the genus Sulcorebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors Anna Maria Kruger, a Bolivian botany student of Martín Cárdenas (1899–1973).
description
Sulcorebutia krugerae sprouts with light to dark green bodies. With a diameter of 3 centimeters, these reach heights of up to 2 centimeters and have a long beet root. A central spine is missing. The 16 to 20 radial spines are arranged in a comb shape, more or less adjoining, whitish with a brownish base or completely brownish and 2 to 3 millimeters long.
The yellow to light orange flowers are 2 to 3 centimeters long and have the same diameter. The brownish fruits have a diameter of 5 millimeters.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Sulcorebutia krugerae is common in the Bolivian department of Cochabamba at altitudes of 2600 meters.
The first description as Aylostera krugerae was published in 1957 by Martín Cárdenas (1899–1973). Friedrich Ritter placed them in the genus Sulcorebutia in 1961 . A synonym is Rebutia krugerae (Cardenas) Backeb .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Endangered (EN) ," d. H. listed as endangered.
