Suleichan Mutuschewna Bagalova ( Russian Зулейхан Мутушевна Багалова ; scientific transliteration Zuleykhan Mutushevna Bagalova; born  June 2,  1945 in Kara-Balta , Kyrgyz SSR ) is a Russian theater actress of Chechen origin. She celebrated her greatest successes during the time of the Soviet Union , where she was awarded, among other things, the Badge of Honor of the Soviet Union and a " Honored Artist of the RSFSR ".

life and career

Suleichan Bagalowa was born in Kara-Balta in the Kyrgyz Soviet Republic in 1945. She attended the theater school of the State Theater in Grozny from 1963 , where she began to appear regularly. She later moved to the State Institute for Theater Arts in Moscow , which she graduated in 1977. From 1961 to 1997 she was one of the leading actresses in the State Theater in Grozny. She played in pieces by Friedrich Schiller , Molière and Said Badujew , among others .

In addition to her career as an actress, Bagalova is also politically active to this day. She sat for a long time in the Grozny City Council, as well as in the Supreme Soviet of the former Checheno-Ingushetia .

From 1995 to 2006 she headed the LAM Center, an organization that works to preserve Chechen culture and is active as a peace activist. With regard to the Chechen war , she repeatedly took a stand against the unilateral declaration of independence by Chechnya as well as against Russian politics and the Kadyrov government. In 2005 she was considered a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.

She was married to the now deceased Chechen actor Yusup Idayev and has three children.
