Suleiman Alexandrowitsch Judakow (* 1916 in Qo'qon , Turkestan General Government ; † 1990 in Tashkent , Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic ) was a Soviet - Uzbek composer .

Career

Judakow was born as the son of Bukharian Jews in Qo'qon in the then General Government of Turkestan . One year after Judakov's birth, the General Government was dissolved in the course of the October Revolution in 1917 and replaced by the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Turkestan in 1918 , so that Judakov lived almost his entire life in the Soviet Union . Judakow grew up as an orphan and eventually went to Moscow , where he studied composition with Reinhold Moritzewitsch Glière from 1939 to 1941 . After completing his studies, he went to Tashkent, which was then the capital of the Uzbek SSR. From 1943 to 1946 he worked as artistic director at the Tajik State Philharmonic in Dushanbe , but then returned to Tashkent.

Yudakov also held offices in the party apparatus of the Uzbek SSR and became, among other things, senior secretary of the Union of Composers of the Uzbek SSR. For his artistic work he received several awards in the Soviet Union, and in 1951 he was honored with the Stalin Prize. In 1990 he died in Tashkent , where he had spent much of his life.

Yudakov wrote numerous pieces of various kinds, including operas , ballet music and songs . Yudakov was also active in the field of film music and wrote the music for various Soviet productions. His style was characterized in particular by folk and traditional Uzbek elements. Among the most famous works include the so-called Judakows Khwarazmian festival procession , which among other 2018 from Mr Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Aziz Shokkakimov was played. In 1944 he also wrote the melody for the hymn of the Tajik SSR, which, with changed text, is also the basis of today's hymn of the independent Republic of Tajikistan , Surudi Milli .
