Sulzbach is the northernmost district of the district town of Weinheim in the Rhein-Neckar district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

Sulzbach was first mentioned in 805. Until 1812 it formed a joint municipality with Hemsbach . Both places were initially owned by the Lorsch Monastery before they came under the influence of the Electoral Palatinate . After several changes of ownership, they finally came to the Electoral Palatinate in 1705 and, after its dissolution in 1803, to Baden . In 1812 Sulzbach became independent. From 1939 it was part of the Mannheim district .

The architect Heinrich Leonhard was born in Sulzbach on October 17, 1813 .

For centuries the village was a community that was shaped by rural structures. After the Second World War , agriculture took a back seat and Sulzbach became an urban suburb of Weinheim. On June 1, 1972, Sulzbach was incorporated into the city of Weinheim after a referendum.
