The Sulztal is an eastern side valley of the Ötztal in the Stubai Alps in Tyrol .

geography

The Sulztal branches off from the Ötztal in an easterly direction at Längenfeld and then turns south and then runs parallel to the Ötztal. The valley is traversed by the Fischbach, which flows into the Ötztaler Ache in Längenfeld . The head of the valley is formed by the Sulztalferner . There are high-alpine crossings over the Winnebachjoch into the Lüsenstal (a side valley of the Sellraintal ), and over the Mutterbergjoch into the Stubai Valley . The Sulztal lies entirely in the municipality of Längenfeld and is largely part of the quiet area of the Stubai Alps. The only larger settlement is the village of Gries in the Sulztal . As far as Gries, the valley is accessible by a road (L239, Grieser Strasse).

Power plant plans

TIWAG plans for a storage lake in the Sulztal with a 150 m high dam and a capacity of 120 million m³ in the area of the Amberger Hütte , which should be fed by the Fischbach and 15 other Ötztal glacier streams. Due to massive resistance, TIWAG abandoned the project and is now planning to divert the Fischbach and two feeders into the planned new Kühtai storage facility of the Sellrain-Silz power plant .
