Summitville (from summit , German: summit ) is a village in Columbiana County in the US state of Ohio . In 2007 it had 104 inhabitants.
geography
The village is located in a hilly area where the highest peaks reach about 370 meters. Summitville is on the Brush Creek River , which is dammed up near the village to Summitville Clay Products Lake , a former clay pit. The area is dominated by agriculture, there is a forest area in the southeast. The United States Highway 644 and the route of a former railway line of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad runs through the village in a north-south direction . Since the underground of the area has clay deposits , a ceramic industry company, Summitville Tiles, Inc. , settled in 1912 and is now the largest operation in Summitville.
Demographic information
According to the last extensive survey by the US Census Bureau in 2000, the population consisted of 108 people living in 31 families and 45 households. 97.2% of the population are of European descent (US average 75.1%). The village consists of 30 single-family houses and a few commercial buildings. Four families (13.3%) were below the poverty line in 1999 (US avg 9.2%) and the median income for a household was $ 25,250 (US avg $ 41,994). 79.7% of the 25-year-olds and older people (US average 80.4%) had a high school degree at the time , four people in the village had a bachelor’s degree, which is 6.3% compared to the US average of 24.4% of those over the age of 25.
