The Gombak ( Malay Sungai Gombak ) is a small river in Malaysia .

geography

The river flows through the Malaysian state of Selangor and has a length of 27 km. The Gombak rises at Gunung Bunga Buah on the border with Pahang , and flows into the Sungai Kelang in Kuala Lumpur . It has a catchment area of ​​122 km².

Naming

The Gombak used to be known as the Sungai Lumpur (muddy river). The word Kuala means estuary. Accordingly, Kuala Lumpur means something like the mouth of the muddy .

ecology

The Gombak is considered to be the most polluted tributary of the Kelang. Between 1969 and 1990 41% of the ancestral fish species in the Gombak were lost.
