The Pahang ( Malay Sungai Pahang ) is a river on the Malay Peninsula in Malaysia .
geography
With a length of 440 km, it is the longest river on the Malay Peninsula. Its catchment area covers around three quarters of the state of Pahang of the same name and is largely congruent with the state borders. The river is created by the confluence of the two rivers Sungai Jelai and Sungai Tembeling . Its highest springs are at Gunung Tahan ( 2187 m ). It flows into the South China Sea about 9 km east of the city of Pekan .
Hydrology
Floods often occur in the winter months during the rainy season.
