Super cycle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Super Cycle is a motorcycle racing game released in 1986 by the game company Epyx for the Commodore 64 and by the publisher US Gold . Portings for other home computers followed.

action

The aim of the game is to complete a motorcycle race track in a certain time. It was inspired by the arcade successes of Out Run and Hang-On , but in the end it plays more like pitstop or pole position . Before starting, you can choose the color and design of your leather jacket and motorcycle. In the race itself you fight against the centrifugal forces and other motorcycles with your three-speed vehicle. If you touch a motorcycle only lightly, it has no effect other than a short wobble. On the other hand, if you touch another rider at high speed, your rider falls and the motorcycle explodes. In the first levels the full width of the street is still available, in later levels potholes, puddles of oil, water and ice as well as barriers make things more difficult. The driver remains behind the finish line at the end of the level and the race is restarted in the new level.

The ASM magazine 8/86 awarded for the graphics 10, 10 Sound, Game Idea 9 and motivation play 10 of 10 points.

The season is slowly coming to an end. The motorcycle cracks determined the world championship in their classes. The audience - and not just the friends of the "hot ovens" - thrilled the Spencers , Gardners , Lavados , Wimmers and Herwehs with their acrobatic "rides" on their machines. Anton "Toni" Mang from Inning has not done as well this season as was expected. As is well known, the former master of the 350cc class had to switch to the 250cc machines, the "bigger brother" was banned from the international race tracks. Perhaps that's why no more major successes for what is probably the most popular German motorcycle athlete? Well, after the runs you can try your luck as a racing ace.

Happy Computer 9/86 awarded 79 out of 100 points for graphics, 65 for sound and 58 for Happy.
