Changes to Supreme Commander

Resource system

The resource system has been simplified in Supreme Commander 2: In contrast to the income-expenditure ratio in Part 1, the resource system has been adapted to the current standard in real-time strategy games. This means that resources are debited directly at the start of construction, and accordingly the construction no longer costs any resources in the further course. The storage buildings have been dropped because the storage in Supreme Commander 2 is very large. Mass extractors will continue to be built on given areas. The extractors are no longer upgraded directly, but via the central research tree. Recycling of wrecks is still possible.

Control & Interface

The user interface in Supreme Commander 2 has remained largely the same, shortcuts via the shift key are still possible and are displayed as colored lines on the map.

There is also the revolutionary “Strategic Zoom” again, which allows the player to see the whole map and thus to organize several battles at the same time.

You can also rotate the view. When zooming out, the view in Supreme Commander 2 is automatically reset to the north position, which makes it easier to orientate yourself during the game.

Another innovation compared to its predecessor is the so-called "attack painting". It is possible to draw a red circle over enemy units with the right mouse button held down to mark them as targets.
