Surasa Mairer

Surasa Mairer (born March 6, 1959 , St. Justina in Austria as Paula Mairer ) is an ultramarathon runner . She works as a secretary and lives in Vienna . Surasa is a student of the Indian guru Sri Chinmoy .

biography

As a child, Mairer liked gymnastics, but never did any sport herself, especially running. From 1974 to 1977 she went to the technical college for women in business in Lienz . In 1981 she received the diploma of the European Secretaries Academy , and from 1977 to 1991 she was secretary at the Institute for Metrology and Geophysics at the University of Innsbruck . Mairer only started running in 1987 at the age of 28. “Since then I have tried to follow the teaching of the integral yoga path. Part of this teaching is athletic fitness . ”In September 2004 she started running backwards . At the Impossibility Challenger event in Munich, she first tried to run a marathon backwards.

  • 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2018 winner of the Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race
