The Surp Agop Hospital ( Turkish: Surp Agop Hastanesi ) or Armenian Saint Jacob Hospital is a hospital in the district (Turkish: Semt ) Elmadağ of the district (Turkish: İlçe ) Şişli of Istanbul , which was founded in 1837 and is still operated today by the Armenian Catholic community in Turkey .

The hospital previously owned all rights to the Pangaltı Armenian Cemetery , which was destroyed in 1930 after the Armenian Genocide in 1915, in which a large part of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire were murdered or expelled, and by the Divan , Hilton and Hyatt hotels , as well the building of the Turkish Radio (TRT) was built over.

The hospital was respected for its work both before and after the First World War . According to the district name at the time, it was known as "The Sourp-Agop Hospital from Pancaldi (also: Pangaltı ) via Pera ." The Armenians' fundraising for the hospital continued even after the Second World War . Today it is a private hospital that also works for the Turkish Social Insurance Foundation ( Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu - SGK) and is open to the general public in Istanbul.
