Susan McFadden (born February 8, 1983 in Artane , County Dublin ) is an Irish actress , singer and member of the group Celtic Woman . She was best known for the role of Sandy in the musical Grease at the Piccadilly Theater and as Elle Woods in the musical Naturally Blonde at the Savoy Theater in London's West End .

Early years

Susan McFadden was born in Dublin to Mairead and Brendan. She is the younger sister of former Westlife member Brian McFadden .

Career

McFadden graduated from Billie Barry Stage School in Dublin. Before she became part of Grease Is the World , she toured Ireland and the USA as a support act with many Irish musicians (including Tony Kenny, June Rodgers, Noel V Ginnity) . In 2006 she moved to London from Dublin, where she won ITV's reality TV show Grease Is the Word . Because of this success she played the female lead Sandy in Grease .

After Grease McFadden played in the original lineup for the premiere in the UK in the musical Legally Blonde the role of Serena . She then played the main role of Elle Woods . For this role she was nominated for the What's on Stage Award in the Best Takeover category. She played the role of Kathy in the Irish production of Singin 'in the Rain . The show ran at the Olympia Theater in Dublin and the Everyman Palace Theater in Cork.

She can be seen as one of the dancers on Daniel O'Donnell's rock and roll show tour and DVD. She played the role of Milly in Steven Houghton's play Seven Brides for Seven Brothers . McFadden sang with Ben Morris and Séan Carey in the finale of RTÉ Ones Fame: The Musical on Sunday 13 June 2010 in Dublin.

Since January 5, 2012, McFadden has been part of the group Celtic Woman, replacing Lisa Kelly , who left the group because of motherhood.

Private

On July 15, 2017, she married Anthony Byrne. In November 2018, she became the mother of her first daughter.
