Susan Elizabeth Miller, Baroness Miller of Chilthorne Domer (born January 1, 1954 ) is a British Liberal Democrats politician who has been a Life Peeress member of the House of Lords since 1998 .

Life

Susan Miller worked in publishing after leaving school and initially worked for the publishers David & Charles, Weidenfeld & Nicolson and Penguin Books before working as a freelance bookseller for Sherborne and Yeovil. At the beginning of the 1990s she began her political career in local politics and was a member of the Council of the District of South Somerset for the Liberal Democrats between 1991 and 1998 and, most recently, from 1996 to 1998 also chaired this body. She was also a member of the Somerset County Council between 1997 and 2005 .

By a letters patent dated July 28, 1998 Susan Miller was raised to the nobility as a life peeress with the title Baroness Miller of Chilthorne Domer , of Chilthorne Domer in the County of Somerset . Shortly thereafter carried their introduction ( Introduction ) as a member of the House of Lords . In the upper house it belongs to the faction of the Liberal Democrats.

During her previous membership in the House of Lords, Baroness Miller was a member of the House of Lords subcommittee for the euro for the first time from 1998 to 2002 and at the same time spokeswoman for the Liberal Democrats group for rural affairs and agriculture between 1999 and 2001 and as group spokeswoman for the environment from 2001 to 2007 , Nutrition and rural affairs. In addition, she has been a member of the Federal Political Committee of the Liberal Democrats since 2004.

Since 2005 she has been a member of the House of Lords subcommittee for the euro and from 2007 to 2010 she was also the spokesperson for the liberal-democratic parliamentary group for the interior. She is also active as chair of the non-partisan parliamentary groups for street children and agroecology and is also vice-chair of the non-partisan parliamentary group for Latin America and vice-president of the council of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers for the national parks in the United Kingdom .
