Susanne Bobzien

Susanne Bobzien (* 1960 in Hamburg ) is a German philosopher and historian of philosophy . She is currently Professor of Philosophy at Oxford University and Senior Research Fellow at All Souls College , Oxford.

Life

Bobzien studied from 1980 to 1987 at the University of Bonn , where she obtained her master's degree in 1985. She also studied from 1987 to 1989 at Somerville College in Oxford . From 1989 to 1990 she was a fellow and tutor in philosophy at Balliol College , Oxford. In 1990 she received an honorary master's degree there (MA Oxon). In 1993 she earned her PhD (D.Phil.) From Oxford University . From 1990 to 2002 she was tutor and praelector in philosophy and Michel Fellow at Queen's College , Oxford. From 2002 to 2010 she taught as a philosophy professor at Yale University . In 2014 she was accepted into the British Academy .

Research priorities

Bobzien's publications are mainly in the areas of ancient logic , determinism and freedom , as well as philosophy of language , especially fuzziness (language) and paradoxes .
