Susanne Klein-Vogelbach

Susanne Klein-Vogelbach (born October 6, 1909 in Basel ; † November 9, 1996 ) was a Swiss gymnastics teacher and physiotherapist .

Life

Susanne Klein-Vogelbach graduated from drama school in Munich after graduating from high school . After a short period of stage work, she completed training to become a teacher for rhythmic gymnastics at the Basel Conservatory , which ultimately formed the basis for her later work as a physiotherapist. She then lived in Japan for seven years . When she returned to Basel, she founded her own practice and later her own school for physiotherapy at the cantonal hospital in Basel. In the years 1955 to 1975 she developed the functional movement theory , for which she was awarded an honorary doctorate in 1979 by the medical faculty of the University of Basel . From 1963 she began to give advanced training courses in this field at home and abroad, and in the 1980s the first FBL instructors began to train. Functional movement theory still sets standards in physiotherapy today . From 1976 onwards, countless lectures at national and international congresses and publications of several books followed.
