Susanne Preacher

Susanne Prediger (born June 11, 1971 ) is a German mathematician and university professor . She has been a professor at the Institute for Development and Research in Mathematics Classes at the Technical University of Dortmund since 2006 .

Life and research

Prediger studied mathematics, history and social studies at the Technical University of Darmstadt from 1990 to 1996 for a higher teaching degree . From 1996 to 2002 she was a research assistant in the didactics work group in the mathematics department at the Technical University of Darmstadt . In 1998 she received her doctorate in mathematics with the dissertation “Contextual judgment logic with concept graphs. A contribution to the restructuring of mathematical logic ”. From 2001 to 2002 she taught at the Free Comenius School in Darmstadt. From 2002 to 2006 she was junior professor for didactics of mathematics at the secondary level in the department of mathematics / computer science at the University of Bremen and for didactics of mathematics at the University of Klagenfurt with the habilitation thesis "Learning mathematics as intercultural learning. Mathematical-philosophical, descriptive and prescriptive considerations ”. From 2004 to 2006 she taught at the comprehensive school in central Bremen. Afterwards she became professor for didactics of mathematics at the institute for development and research of mathematics teaching at the Technical University of Dortmund. Since 2017 she has been Vice Director of the German Center for Mathematics Teacher Training (DZLM). From 2004 to 2011 she was editor of the journal Praxis der Mathematik in der Schule, since 2019 she has been editor of the journal Educational Studies in Mathematics and the journal RISTAL - Research in Subject-matter Teaching and Learning.

  • 2005: Berninghausen Prize for excellent teaching and its innovation at the University of Bremen
  • 2014: Prize for teacher training Ruhr for "Innovative teaching concepts in the Master of Education course"
  • 2018: Award for the math workshop as textbook of the year (edited by Barzel, Hussmann, Leuders, Prediger)
  • 2019: Polytechnik Prize for excellent, innovative subject didactic teaching concepts for dealing with diversity for the SiMa teaching and training concept "Language training in mathematics lessons"
