Before that she was pastor in the parish of Värö-Stråvalla and in the parish of Stensjö . She received her doctorate in 2005 from the University of Karlstad with a thesis on disability from a theological perspective and worked as a university lecturer at the University of Karlstad and at the Bräcke Diakoni .

Susanne Rappmann's episcopal motto is: Vår Gud bär sår (“Our God bears wounds”). It is inspired by Ylva Eggehorn's poem No Other God Has Wounds . She herself explains her motto as follows:

”Tron på en Gud som bär egna och andras sår hear till det mest hoppfulla jag vet […] Vi behöver hopp som kämniskor men också som kyrka. Genome valspråket vill jag inspirera till att våga dela sårbarhet, tro på försoningens possible and omsätta tron i practical handling. ”

“Belief in a God who bears one's own wounds and those of others is one of the most hopeful that I know [...] We need hope as a fighter, but also as a church. With this motto I would like to encourage people to share the vulnerability, to believe in the possibility of reconciliation and to translate faith into practical action. "
