Suwâld ( Dutch Suawoude ) is a Dutch town with 650 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It belongs to the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel in the province of Friesland . The West Frisian name Suwâld has been officially approved since 1989. The village is ten kilometers southeast of Leeuwarden on the edge of the Frisian Forests (Frisian Fryske Wâlden or Wâlden for short ).
