The Suwon Urban Development Corporation Women's Football Club, or Suwon UDC WFC for short, is a football franchise from Suwon , South Korea that currently plays in the WK-League , the top division of women's football in South Korea. In 2010 they won the WK-League and became the second champion in its history.
history
The franchise was founded on January 1st, 2008 and has been playing in this league since the WK League was founded.
In the first WK League season, the franchise came last. In the following season they were the "surprise team" of the WK-League: they reached 2nd place at the end of the regular season. While the champions of the first season only finished third, Suwon reached the championship final against Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels by one point . Although the first leg was lost 0-1 in Incheon , they surprisingly won the second leg 2-0 in Suwon and crowned their performance with the championship. In the following season as the defending champion they reached 3rd place after the end of regular time, with which they qualified for the championship semi-final game. In the semifinals, however, they were defeated by Incheon 2-1, which ruled out defending their title. In the next season they could not build on the performance of the last two years and ended the season in 6th place, as well as in 2013, where they again only reached 6th place. In 2014, after the end of the regular season, the 5th place followed. It was only in the last season that they were able to build on their old achievements for a long time and reached 3rd place, which enabled them to participate in the semi-finals. There they had to compete against Icheon Daekyo WFC . They lost the game 1: 2.
