Suzanne Helena Johanna Harmes (born January 10, 1986 in Zoetermeer ) is a former Dutch gymnast .

Suzanne Harmes began doing gymnastics at a very young age in the gymnastics club “Pro Patria” in her former home town of Zoetermeer. She trained under the supervision of the trainer Frank Louter , the trainer who also trained Verona van de Leur and Renske Endel . Later she moved to Nijmegen and joined the gymnastics center “De Hazenkamp” under the direction of Boris Orlov .

In 2002 she won a silver medal with the Dutch team at the 2002 European Gymnastics Championships in Patras . A year later she became the first Dutch champion. At the 2005 World Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne , she won the bronze medal in floor exercise . At the beginning of 2005 she had gold, silver and bronze on the beam and on the vaulting table at the “Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Women” in Maribor from October 28th to 30th . Because of her pregnancy, she stayed away from the 2006 World Gymnastics Championships in Aarhus from October 13 to 21, 2006. In May 2007 she gave birth to a son. Some time after the birth of her son, she returned to gymnastics. She became Dutch champion again. Harmes was the only Dutch gymnast to take part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . In early May 2011 she finished her gymnastics career.
