Sveinbjörn Pétursson (born November 30, 1988 in Ísafjörður ) is a handball goalkeeper from Iceland .
The goalkeeper, who is 1.87 meters tall and weighs 95 kilograms, was under contract with EHV Aue from the 2012/13 season . Before that he played with KA Akureyri from 2010 to 2012 and with HK Kópavogur from 2009 to 2012 . In summer 2016 he joined the Icelandic first division club UMF Stjarnan .
For the Icelandic national team , he played eleven international matches until August 2017 ; he was in the extended squad for the 2011 World Cup .
