Sven Sercander
Sven Sercander (born December 26, 1966 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1980s he played in the GDR league for the teams Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock , Hansa Rostock , Kernkraftwerk Greifswald and Motor Stralsund .
Athletic career
At the beginning of the 1980s, Sven Sercander was one of the best U-16 youngsters in the GDR and played six international matches with the U16 national team, in which he scored four goals.
1984/85 he came to his first appearances in the second-rate GDR league. For the Betriebsportgemeinschaft (BSG) Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock, he completed six of the 34 point games and scored his first goal in the GDR league. Since the BSG had to relegate, Sercander moved to the GDR upper division club FC Hansa Rostock. This saw Sercander 1985/86 before for the league team, instead he was only used in the 2nd team, which played in the third-rate district league. The 1st team was relegated, and Sercander was officially registered for the district league team for the 1986/87 season. Nevertheless, he came in two GDR league games of the 1st team as a substitute in midfield and in attack. Mainly he played in the district league and finally helped the 2nd team to rise to the GDR league after the 1st team had returned to the league. For the season 1987/88 the FC Hansa Sercander planned further for the 2nd team as a striker. He played 13 of the 17 GDR league games in the first half of the season and scored three goals.
At the beginning of the second half of the season, Sercander was delegated to the GDR league club BSG Kernkraftwerk Greifswald as part of a cooperation agreement. There he was used as a striker in another 13 league games in which he scored a goal. Also in the 1988/89 season Sercander played again in the attack of Greifswald, but was only used until matchday 21, played only 16 league games this season and remained without scoring.
For the 1989/90 season, the BSG KKW planned again with Sercander, but he no longer played for the nuclear power plant. Instead, he joined the league competitor Motor Stralsund, where he played eleven GDR league games without a goal. After the opening of the borders as a result of the political change , Sercander turned west and joined SV Sereetz , with whom he played in the Schleswig-Holstein Association League. In higher-class football he no longer appeared, so it stayed with five goals in his 61 games in the GDR league. Sercander stayed in Sereetz after the end of his active career , where he continued to work as a coach at the sports club.
