Sven Tönnies

Sven Edmar Tönnies (* 1946 in Hamburg ) is a German psychologist and professor at the University of Hamburg .

Life

Sven Tönnies studied psychology , education and sociology in Hamburg and received his doctorate and habilitation. He is married to Ursula Behrens-Tönnies and has three children.

Career

  • From 1967 to 1972 studied psychology, education and sociology in Hamburg

Focus of work

Tönnies mainly taught clinical psychology and intervention methods (conversation psychotherapy, cognitive therapies). In addition, mental training and relaxation processes, affective disorders, somatoform and psychophysiological disorders as well as research methods. He headed the contact and advice center for earwig (for tinnitus and other hearing disorders) in the department of psychology. His main research interests include clinical diagnostics , psychosomatic disorders, rehabilitation of hearing disorders and the importance of cognitions in psychotherapy and health psychology .
