Sven Thidevall
Sven Thidevall (* 1949 in Lidingö ) is a bishop emeritus of the Lutheran Church of Sweden .
Life
After leaving school, Thidevall studied Protestant theology . He was ordained in 1979 and worked in the Stockholm diocese until 1987 , then in the Växjö diocese . In 2000, he was at the University of Uppsala to Dr. theol. received his doctorate and worked there as a researcher until 2003. In 2003 he became an adjunct in the diocese of Strängnäs . In 2006, Thidevall succeeded Anders Wejryd as Bishop of Växjö.
After a dispute with the political parties in the collegiate synod ( stiftsstyrelse ), Thidevall announced in February 2010 that he was stepping down as bishop of the Växjö diocese and that he would be serving as a researcher. He was succeeded as Bishop Jan-Olof Johansson .
