Svenja Spriestersbach (born October 9, 1981 in Diez ) is a German handball player .

Career

The 1.83 m tall back player was under contract with Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund from 2006 . For the 2009/10 season, Svenja Spriestersbach moved to Buxtehuder SV , where she signed a two-year contract. With Buxtehude she won the EHF Challenge Cup in 2010 . For the 2010/11 season, Svenja Spriestersbach moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for TV Mainzlar. The club had to de-register its team at the end of January 2011 due to financial difficulties. From February 2011, Spriestersbach received an offer at short notice to strengthen the Borussia Dortmund team, which had been weakened by injuries. For the 2011/12 season, she extended her contract in Dortmund. From December 2012 she had to interrupt her career due to pregnancy. After returning to the squad, she left Borussia Dortmund at the end of the 2013/14 season.

Spriestersbach played four games (no goal) for the German national team , making her international debut on March 3, 2007 in Riesa against the Netherlands.

Svenja Spriestersbach is a trained educator and qualified social worker . In addition, she is completing a master's degree at the University of Kassel .
