Svffer is a band whose members come from Bielefeld and Münster and which stylistically moves between the genres of hardcore and grindcore .

history

At the end of the 2000s, guitarist Benni (at the time a member of Alpinist) and drummer Jan (Unrest) met at the Münster club Triptychon. The band Svffer was formed in 2013 based on mutual musical ideas; Singer Leonie was the only member to come from nearby Bielefeld. In the same year an EP with four titles was produced. The first album Lies We Live was recorded in the Tonmeisterei in Oldenburg and was released in 2014 by the hardcore and punk labels Per Koro ( Muff Potter , Fear My Thoughts , Hammerhead ) and Vendetta Records ( Funeral Diner , Nadja , Omega Massif ). In 2016, the band had to cut back on their activities, as singer Leonie moved to Berlin and guitarist Benni to Cologne and rehearsals and concerts became less frequent. The band occasionally supports political campaigns and groups within their means, especially the “Anarchist Black Cross Belarus”.

style

Svffer's music primarily contains elements of hardcore and grindcore. The complex song structures, frequent changes in tempo and a rudimentary melodiousness are typical of Hardcore. Borrowed from Grindcore are the high game speed, blastbeats and the surreal screeching vocals of the singer. The Tonmagnet -Blog attests to the music as having groovy elements, Cvltnation also sees influences from Metalcore and Screamo and the Stageload magazine has a large Powerviolence influence and some sludge elements. Terrorizer magazine, on the other hand, describes Svffer's music as "dark, sullen hardcore". The band itself does not classify their musical style or simply describes it as a "noise". The line-up with a female singer is absolutely unusual for the genre. The compositions are mostly based on ideas from guitarist Benni and are worked out by the band together. Singer Leonie is responsible for all lyrics, which are often socially critical, as is typical of the genre.
