The Svyataya Rus ( Russian Святая Русь , dt. Transcription: Swjataja Rus - Holy Russia) built when Rodina (dt. Home), is a river cruise ship , which in June 1955 in the GDR on the VEB Mathias-Thesen-Werft in Wismar built and belongs to the Rodina class , Project 588, (in Wismar, however, called Project Tschkalow , after the first ship of the series), German name BiFa Type A (inland passenger ship Type A). The river cruise ship with three passenger decks was built in June 1955 as the Rodina for the Volschskoje Objedinjonnoje Rechnoje Parochodstvo ( United Volga River Shipping Company ) in Gorky . It belongs to a series of 49 Rodina-class ships manufactured between 1954 and 1961 . The ship has a diesel-electric drive with three main engines. In January 2006, the Rodina , under which the Soviet Union was understood, was renamed Svyataya Rus . Since 1986 the ship's home port has been Leningrad (Saint Petersburg). In 2012 the ship was used for domestic travelers on the Saint Petersburg - Valaam route.
