Svetlana Vladimirovna Kapanina
Svetlana Wladimirowna Kapanina ( Russian Светла́на Влади́мировна Капа́нина , also transcribed Svetlana Kapanina ; born December 28, 1968 in Shchuchinsk , Kazakhstan ) is a Russian aerobatic pilot .
Life
Kapanina started aviation in 1988. In 1995 she graduated from the Kaluga Aviation School.
Kapanina was the world aerobatic champion in 1996, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2011 and has won the aerobatic world title more often than any other pilot. In addition, together with Michail Mamistow and Oleg Spoljanski , she won the gold medal in the team competition at the 16th FAI World Air Games in 2008 in Hradec Králové (Czech Republic). There Kapanina took fourth place in the overall ranking and was the best female participant with her Sukhoi Su-26M3 aerobatic machine . In total, she won 38 gold medals at world championships, eight gold medals at the World Air Games and 13 gold medals at the European championships.
Ms. Kapanina is married to Vladimir Stepanov, a karate master and karate trainer. You have two children and live in Moscow .
Awards
- In 1997 she received the Paul Tissandier Diploma from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI).
- In 2005 she was awarded the Sabiha Gökçen Medal and the FAI Centenary Medal.
