Sword and Stone is a song written by Paul Stanley , Bruce Kulick, and Desmond Child that was first released in 1989 as part of the soundtrack for the movie Shocker .
Classification in the musical background
The song was created in 1985 during the tour for Kiss - Album Asylum . Bruce Kulick developed the reef . During the sessions for the album Crazy Nights , it was completed as a demo at Electric Lady Studios . Of the thirteen songs written for this album, only ten ended up being recorded. The music producer Ron Nevison, who is responsible for the album recorded, like Sword and Stone not and leaned the seat for Crazy Nights from. However, since Paul Stanley had a publishing contract , the song was offered to other musicians.
The first artist to record and release the song was Paul Dean, the guitarist for the Canadian band Loverboy . It was included on his solo album Hard Core , released in Europe in 1988 . In the USA the album was only released in 1989.
The German band Bonfire recorded a version of the song as part of the work for their third album Point Blank . However, it was not used for this release, but found its way onto the soundtrack album for the Wes Craven film Shocker. The song was released as a single in Germany . In 2013 the band provided a live version of the song recorded at Wacken Open Air for the sampler A World With Heroes .
Music videos were produced for both studio versions of the song, and Bonfire also released a live video of the song in 2018.
