The Syðra-Hádegisfell (together with the northern (Nyrðra-) Hádegisfell ( 865  m ) also Hádegishnúkar is called) is a 1076  m high volcanic mountain in the highlands of Iceland .

Surname

The name Hádegishnúkar means midday peaks in German, similar to some alpine peaks.

location

The mountain is adjacent to the central volcano Prestahnúkur and, like this one, lies east of the Kaldidalur highland slope . At the same time it belongs to the mountain range of the Langjökull ice cap .

geology

It is a mountain that was formed in one or more volcanic eruptions at the same eruption site and at the same time under a glacier.

Rockclimbing

The mountain can be climbed from the north. To do this, drive from the Kaldidalur highland piste towards the Jaki hut on Langjökull and park your car on the east side of the bridge over the Geitá glacier river . From there you turn to the south and finally ascend over a ledge between the mountain and the lower northeastern (Nyrðra) Hádegisfell ( 865  m ).
