Sybille Binder

Sybille Binder (born January 5, 1895 in Vienna ; † June 30, 1962 in Düsseldorf ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

She began her theater career in 1915 at the Barnowsky Theaters in Berlin . In 1918 she went to the Münchner Kammerspiele under Otto Falckenberg , with whom she was briefly married from 1920. At the Kammerspiele she was particularly successful as Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream .

Since 1922 she played again mainly in Berlin, occasionally also in Vienna. One of her most important roles was that of Lulu in Earth Spirit . In 1932 she started working in Zurich . During and after World War II she lived in England.

Binder, who had previously only accepted film roles occasionally, worked as a supporting actress in several British productions during the 1940s. Since 1950 she has been on the Düsseldorf stages and embodied the Duchess in Wallenstein's Death and Sidonie Knobbe in Die Ratten, among others .
