Sydjyllands Veterantog (SJVT, until 2010: "Lokomotivklubben KLK") is an association in Denmark that operates several Danish railway lines as a museum.

history

The club was founded in 1962 as the Kolding Lokomotiv Klub . The aim of the association was to acquire and preserve historical railway material and to use this in a museum train ( Danish Veterantog ). At the beginning this was material from Troldhede – Kolding – Vejen Jernbane , but now vehicles and objects from other Danish private railways and from DSB are available.

Since 1969 the association has had its permanent headquarters in the former DSB depot in Lunderskov . There is a car shed, a warehouse and a heated workshop. A separate museum train has existed since 1972, which operates between Vejle and Jelling and between Haderslev and Vojens .

DSB Museumstog Syd

In 2010 the association became part of the DSB Jernbanemuseum , the railway museum of the Danish State Railways, under the name DSB Museumstog Syd .

The existing vehicle material is used, the restoration is still being carried out by the voluntary members of the association who operate the nostalgic train. This has now been taken over by a new sponsorship association, Støtteforeningen KLK , which publishes the Togfløjten magazine and organizes meetings and special trips.

Sydjyllands Veterantog

In 2014 the association became independent again and is now called Sydjyllands Veterantog (SJVT).

Rail operations

At different times of the year the trains run on the twelve kilometer long Haderslevbanen between Vojens and Haderslev By.

In addition, the route between Vejle and Jelling is operated, sometimes only in sections. The journey over the 14-kilometer route takes you over one of the steepest railway lines in Denmark. No train journeys were offered for 2015 due to a lack of safety systems.

Vejle, the starting point of the route, is between Fredericia and Aarhus in the middle of Denmark. At the end of the route in Jelling you will find the rune stones of Jelling , which have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site .

The Danish steam locomotive F 694 , which was built by Frichs in 1920 and was waiting for a general inspection in 2013 , was used for many years . The diesel locomotive HHJ DL 11 from 1952 is ready for use. The passenger cars with wooden benches date from the years 1898–1916.
