Sylke Gruhnwald (* 1981 in Munich ) is a German journalist based in Switzerland with a degree in business administration and sinology .

Life

Sylke Gruhnwald studied Sinology and Business Administration at the Universities of Munich and Vienna . She co-founded Hacks / Hackers Zurich, Lobbywatch.ch and the Reporter Forum Switzerland. She was President of the Board of Directors of Journalismfund.eu and a board member at Investigativ.ch. She worked on the research project “The Migrants' Files”. Her teams and she herself have received multiple awards for their work, including the Swiss Press Award (2018), the Grimme Online Award (2014), the European Press Prize (2015) and the IRE Special Award (2015).

From October 2018 to March 2019 she was co-editor-in-chief of the digital magazine Republik . Before that, Gruhnwald worked for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) and later for Swiss television , where she set up and managed data teams. In 2016 she worked as a reporter for the observer .
